If a student has a medical condition or an allergy (including life-threatening food, environmental or bee allergies), the parent/guardian should provide written documentation from their medical provider outlining the condition, along with an emergency care plan for school. The school nurse, along with administration and/or counseling, will use this information to develop a safety plan for the student as needed.
We strive to keep our students as safe as possible while they are in our care, and we appreciate any information you are willing to share with the nursing team at your child’s school. Emergency care plans can be sent via fax, mail, or email. Please feel free to call the Health Office to discuss.
For food allergies, a doctor must write a medical note for the student outlining their allergy and what foods can be substituted to replace the missing allergen. The substitutions must be specific so that the dietary team can help your child maintain proper nutrition while they are at school. Please let the nurses know if you have questions.
