Welcome to the Transportation Department

Important Transportation Information for the
2024-2025

Dear Parents and Guardians,

It’s early August and the Transportation Department is working hard to prepare for the opening of school.

We have a new website that we are in the process of updating.  When updates are made we will post the date so you will know if information is current

We will send out bus letters the week of August 19th.    This year we will send out letters both through the US Mail and through ParentSquare.  Our intent is for this to be the final fall in which we send out paper letters in the US mail.

Notifications have been sent out about transportation for the Fall.  Please be sure to email the transportation form especially for grades K thru 5.  This info is helpful to have ahead of time as we're setting up bus routes very soon. If you moved or planning to move please be sure you contact the Registrar first at 585-242-5200 Ext 5580.

We know the importance of timely communication regarding your child’s transportation. When buses are running late, we will be using automated calls, texts, and emails to notify families. Notifications will be made when we expect a delay of more than 15 minutes.

Please contact the Transportation Department with any questions or concerns at 242-5200, Ext. 5806

Thank you,

Dr. Mike Maloy
Director of Student Operations

Luis Lopez
Assistant Director of Transportation

  • 1. Be at the bus stop 5 minutes before pick up time.

    2. Listen to your bus driver and monitor at all times - wait for the bus driver's signal to cross.

    3. Respect the property and personal rights of others while at the bus stop and on the bus.

    4. No skateboards, golf clubs, large musical instruments, skis or creatures (dead or alive) on the bus.

    5. Do NOT Eat Food or Drink on the bus.

    6. Please refer to the Parent Handbook (Parent Information Guide) for the school year for bus transportation rules and guidelines.

  • For students in grades K through 2, we ask that a parent or authorized adult be visible to the driver at the stop location.

For students in grades 3 through 5, we ask that the parents provide a safe option when the child gets off, it's NOT required that an adult be present.  If the child has a key please be sure they have it.

REMEMBER: PM drop times may vary based on ridership.

  • Bus transportation is provided by First Student under contract with the Brighton School District. Transportation is provided for K-2 students living at least 1/8 mile from school, for 3-5 students living at least 1/4 mile from school, and for 6-12 students living at least 3/4 mile from school. Our goal is to provide all Brighton students with safe, pleasant and efficient transportation.

Bus schedules are mailed to parents during the last two weeks in August. Please allow a week or so for the bus to get on a regular schedule. Beyond that time, notify the transportation department of any problems with the bus schedule at 585-242-5200 Ext 5806.

  • Please be sure the transportation office has accurate information for day care and/or babysitting arrangements as they affect bus pick-up and drop-off. It is important you keep this information updated with any changes by using the Transportation Form that can be found on-line and at school.

Requests for a student to ride on an AM bus other than the one assigned  MUST BE MADE IN WRITING and given to the AM Bus driver. In the PM, a child is only allowed to ride another bus with a Bus Dismissal Pass that is filled out and turned into school the day of the change. Bus dismissal passes are available for K-5 children on-line or the school's office.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
