Homelessness

The McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act provides educational rights to students and families that may be experiencing homelessness or a lack of permanent housing. This applies to individuals who lack a fixed, regular, and adequate primary night time residence. Students in temporary housing have the right to immediately enroll in school, receive free transportation to the school of origin, participate in any school activity, and have access to free school meals. If you or your child are experiencing any of these challenges, please reach out to District Homeless Liaison Jeff Green at (585) 242-5200 x5535.

If you need information on available public services or have questions, call 211 and explain the situation. A representative will be able to provide you with information and referrals to community organizations that may be able to help.
